WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE BEER WILL BE TOAST OF THE BAFTAS.
Kirin Ichiban, the Japanese premium lager, is continuing its long-running association with Bafta as it is set to be the Official Beer of the academy for the sixth consecutive year.

With the lacklustre American film awards season so far, the Orange Bafta Film Awards are gearing up to be one of the biggest global events in the film calendar, and stars of the silver screen will be celebrating with the world’s most expensive beer.

The lager uses the unique Ichiban Shirbori process which means that the finest ingredients are pressed only once. This single pressing gives Kirin Ichiban an unrivalled rich flavour and aroma, as other beers will re-use the ingredients, and dilute the taste.

Akira Saito from Kirin Ichiban explains why the lager fits perfectly with the awards: “The Bafta Film Awards is one of the most exclusive, sought after and talked about events of the year so it is only right that one of the world’s most exclusive and sought after beers is associated with it. By placing Kirin Ichiban at exclusive events such as the Baftas, underlines the lager’s specialist and premium market.”

The inaugural British Academy Television Awards took place in 1954, with six awards presented. The Television Awards have come a long way since then. They continue to recognise and reward excellence but, today, the Academy presents BAFTA masks to programme-makers and artists working in the fields of televised drama, factual, sport, news, entertainment and comedy, reflecting the wealth and diversity of British television.
